Dear Friends-
I am pleased to be working with the Frederick l’Ecole des Arts to bring you the second annual Fiddlers on the Bayou at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th. I invite you to join us at Nunu's Nightlite and Cafe in Arnaudville for a night packed with some of the most talented fiddlers in and around Acadiana. I am pleased to facilitate an evening of music and conversation as the audience learns about the musicians and what drives their love of the fiddle. This year we will be highlighting Irish, Old Timey, Swing, Creole and Cajun fiddle music. We will explore what weaves these traditions together and celebrate the cultures that help shape their differences. Also, during our concert, we will pay homage to the bayous that guided people to this land and helped shape our home. Bayous Teche, Fusilier and Vermilion are among the most culturally significant waterways in Acadiana and we will take a closer look at their ecological and cultural value.
I am also pleased to invite students of the fiddle to join us prior to the concert for fiddle workshops hosted by Buz Sibley (Old Timey) and yours truly (Cajun). Come tune up (or down!) with some expert fiddle instructors and stay to enjoy the show.
